Me too - Poem
Written by Candace Genesis
I know how you feel when you take a stroll through the city, Long after the sun has gone down. I see you wander around, so brave and unfazed. But I also see the fear in your eyes... I know how you feel when he stares at you From the abyss that is the alleyway. I see you ignore him and his conniving smile. But I also see the haste in your stride... I know how you feel when you hear his footsteps Fall into sync with yours. I see you pretend to not notice. But I also see you reach for your phone... I know how you feel when you see a cab Slowly coming down the street. I see you confidently wave it over. But I also see your sigh of relief... I know how you feel when you get in And tell the driver where you want to go. I see you look into his eyes through the rear-view mirror. I know how you feel when you look at those eerie eyes in the rear-view mirror. I see you smile at the man in the rear-view mirror. But I also see the tremble in your smile. |
