Interviewer: Judy Hyojoo Rhee
Lewis Kim
1. Can you give a quick intro about yourself (name, favourite food, one word that best describes you)? I’m Lewis Kim, my favourite food is rice, and one word to describe me would be ‘curious’. 2. What was the best part about high school/UHill? The fact that I am forced to take certain subjects and explore things that I would not have had the chance to discover. 3. What was the worst part about high school/UHill? I think it can be more multicultural. 4. What are your plans for next year? I am planning on furthering my education and spending more time on self-development. 5. Do you have a message for Grade 8 students who will be coming to UHill next year? Take advantage of all the opportunities--such as clubs, teachers’ help, and athletics--to explore different things. Michelle Cheng 1. Can you give a quick intro about yourself (name, favourite food, one word that best describes you)? My name is Michelle and I really like watermelon. One word that best describes me is ‘calmer than Judy’. 2. What was the best part about high school/UHill? I really like the people at UHill. While our school is quite academic, I really like the people and forming friendships with them. Here, I can figure out what kind of people make me happy. 3. What was the worst part about high school/UHill? The lockers are very annoying. If you have an upper locker, sometimes stuff falls into the locker below because of a gap between the locker door and the separator. 4. What are your plans for next year? I’m going to the University of British Columbia, and I really want to do some traveling (maybe this summer). I might go study abroad in my third year. 5. Do you have a message for Grade 8 students who will be coming to UHill next year? Find yourself a group of people you enjoy being around. Find people with similar interests so that you can have great conversations with them about those interests. Vivian Duan 1. Can you give a quick intro about yourself (name, favourite food, one word that best describes you)? My name is Vivian and I am in Grade 12. I am kind of excited to graduate but not really. My favourite food is meat (all kinds) and one word to describe me would be ‘napping’. 2. What was the best part about high school/UHill? UHill has nice people, including very supportive friends and teachers. I feel that this is quite unique to UHill because people treat each other with respect, which does not necessarily happen very often in high school. That’s what I like about UHill. 3. What was the worst part about high school/UHill? Academic pressure can be tough. There’s pressure from the upper level as well as pressure from your peers. School spirit can also be improved. 4. What are your plans for next year? I’m just trying to figure out life. 5. Do you have a message for Grade 8 students who will be coming to UHill next year? Enjoy your Grade 8 to 10 years (I actually did nothing lol) before academic pressure starts to creep in and you get trapped. Join clubs that you are interested in, because that’s a great way to make friends. Do the things you are passionate about. Bruce Li 1. Can you give a quick intro about yourself (name, favourite food, one word that best describes you)? My name is Bruce Li, my favourite food is rice, and one word to describe me would be ‘loyal’. 2. What was the best part about high school/UHill? There were a number of ‘best parts’ about high school/UHill. For instance, Reach for the Top, History 12, Iceland, and the flag (?). 3.
