kind·ness /ˈkīn(d)nəs/ the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
From December 8th - 14th, kindness was encouraged throughout University Hill Secondary. A ‘Kindness Week’ was arranged by some students of U-Hill who are part of the Youth Leadership Program. What’s Kindness Week? Kindness week was a week-long event to share some kindness to others and give back to the community through many ways. What did we do? On the first day, we went out giving cookies to studying UBC students while they prepared for final exams. Their faces lit up as soon as we said “Yes, they’re free!”. Next we decorated lockers with sticky notes with positive messages hand-written on them. Then to end with a bang, we started the CPT morning on Friday off by giving pancakes to U-Hill students as they came into the school, accompanied with Christmas music, games, and as many pancake toppings you could dream of. Planned on such a short notice, this small event made a big impact on those who participated. It goes to show that the smallest acts of kindness can make someone's day. |
